as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture

a rural West Texas representative
- 1972 - 1977 served in the U.S. Air Force flying C-130 tactical
airlift aircraft over the U.S., Europe and Middle East
- Active member of the Boy Scouts and also a member of American
Legion Post #75
